What is an ESA?

Comfort that's more than company.

An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is a pet that provides genuine therapeutic benefit to a person living with a mental health condition — easing symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more simply through their presence and connection.

Unlike a service animal, an ESA doesn't need special task training. Its role is emotional: grounding you, easing isolation, and offering steady comfort on the days that feel heaviest.

An ESA letter is documentation from a licensed mental health professional confirming that your animal is part of your treatment for a diagnosed condition. When it's clinically appropriate, it can support certain housing accommodations under the Fair Housing Act.

An honest word first

This is a real evaluation — not a letter mill.

You've probably seen websites promising an "instant ESA letter" for a fee. We do things differently, because your wellbeing — and the integrity of the process — actually matter to us.

  • We meet with you for a genuine clinical assessment — no rubber stamps

  • An ESA letter is only provided when it's clinically appropriate for you

  • Approval is never guaranteed, and we'll always be honest with you about that

  • Our letters are written by a licensed Florida clinician and meet legitimate standards

  • We'll never pressure you toward an outcome — this is about real support

If an ESA isn't the right fit for your situation, we'll tell you — and help you explore what is.

How it works

A simple, human process.

No endless forms, no cold transactions. Just a thoughtful conversation and a clear path forward.

Who this is for

You might benefit from an ESA evaluation if…

  • You live with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or another mental health condition

  • Your pet genuinely helps you feel grounded, safe, or less alone

  • You're navigating housing that requires documentation for your animal

  • You want a legitimate evaluation from a real, licensed therapist

  • You're already a New Light client, or you're open to ongoing support

An ESA evaluation can be a standalone service, or part of the broader work we do together.

Let's talk about your support.

If your animal is already part of how you cope, an honest evaluation is the next step. Reach out for a consultation — we'll meet you exactly where you are.
