Find Connection and Healing Through Group Therapy

Grow Together in Group Therapy

At New Light Counseling, we offer trauma-informed group therapy experiences designed to foster connection, insight, and shared healing. Whether you’re navigating grief, addiction recovery, emotional burnout, or patterns of people-pleasing and codependency, group therapy provides a space where you don’t have to go through it alone.

Healing Happens in Relationship

Group therapy offers something individual therapy can’t always replicate: the power of being witnessed, supported, and understood by others who truly get it. In a safe and guided space, you’ll have the opportunity to explore your emotions, share your story (at your own pace), and practice vulnerability, boundaries, and connection with others.

Led by licensed therapists and grounded in trauma-informed care, our groups combine emotional safety, structured guidance, and real relational depth.

Group Therapy FAQ

What is group therapy, and how is it different from individual therapy?
Group therapy offers a safe, therapist-led space where several individuals meet to explore shared emotional challenges. Unlike individual therapy, group work includes support, insight, and connection from other participants. Many clients find that healing in the presence of others offers unique relational growth that one-on-one therapy can’t always provide.

How many people are usually in a group?
Our groups are intentionally kept small, usually between 6 and 15 participants. This allows for emotional safety, deeper sharing, and meaningful connection without feeling overwhelming.

Will I be required to share personal details?
You are always in control of how much you choose to share. While openness deepens connection, there’s no pressure to disclose anything before you’re ready. Group therapy is about creating a space where you feel emotionally safe—not exposed.

What kinds of groups do you offer?
We offer groups focused on grief, addiction recovery, anxiety, self-compassion, and more. All are grounded in trauma-informed care and guided by licensed therapists.

Is group therapy right for me if I’m already doing individual therapy?
Yes. Many people find group work a powerful addition to individual therapy. Group sessions can help you practice relational skills, gain new perspectives, and feel less alone in your struggles—all while complementing your one-on-one work.

How long are the groups, and how often do they meet?
Most groups run weekly for 60–90 minutes, typically over a span of 6–8 weeks. Details vary depending on the group, and each listing will include duration, format (in-person or virtual), and meeting times.

Do I need to commit to the whole group series?
Yes. To protect group cohesion and emotional safety, we ask that participants commit to the full series when they sign up. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to talk with you beforehand to see if a group is the right fit.

How do I sign up or learn more?
You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to explore your options or ask questions about a specific group. You can also check our current offerings for upcoming dates, themes, and availability.
